| | Local Amador County Events Amador County is a vibrant community that celebrates both its rich Gold Rush history and its newly found traditions. There is always something going on in the Sierra Foothills! Out and About Composed of several Gold Rush-era towns, Amador County has numerous annual festivals that range from rubber-ducky races to Holiday Wine & Gift Open Houses. Whatever the season, you will find something going on in Amador. For a list of local events, where to stay, dining, and other activities, visit the Amador Council of Tourism at www.touramador.com. Wine Events The Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas of Amador County boast over 40 wineries featuring a wide variety of grapes and styles. Twice a year, the Amador Vintner's Association puts on valley-wide events featuring live music, food pairings, seminars, and of course, wine tasting. In March, Behind the Cellar Door celebrates the new vintages with barrel samples and a chance to chat with the winemaker. In October, as the crops come in, The Big Crush lets you become a part of the harvest with event-only specials, special tastings, and even a grape stomp.
